| Here is a small guide created by our staff team to help you understand the structure of Ranking in the Naruto Chronicles Community.
Genin: The first Ranking of any Shinobi. Fresh graduates of the Village Academy. These ninja are aged between 12 - 16. They are often placed into Genin Teams, the usual set up is a 4-man-cell with 3 Genin and a single Chuunin or Jounin. There isn't much to this rank, these are the youth shinobi, still learning to perfect the arts. Genin are the equivalent of C-Rank Missing Ninja.
Chuunin: The second Ranking of any Shinobi. These ninja are Average in skill. They tend to range from the age 16 upward, as many ninja may never become skilled enough to get promoted and could possibly live the whole of their lives as Chuunin. Chuunin have much more flexibility with there teams, they can be Squad Leaders, part of a All Chuunin squad, part of a Chuunin squad aided by a Jounin Squad Leader or they have the option of taking missions alone. Chuunin are the equivalent of B-Rank Missing Ninja.
Jounin: The elite of the village. Jounin's are expected to risk their lives on a daily basis and due to this dangerous level of action, all of the Five Great Nations have declared Jounin must be atleast 18 years of age. Jounin's are also expected to have a variety of diverse skills and atleast a decent level of skill in all fields. Jounin are the equivalent of A-Rank Missing Ninja. A Jounin can also become ANBU if he gets Kage permission.
Sannin: More of a Title than an official Rank but the Sannin are a collection of 3 expert shinobi. They are equivalent in power to that of the village Kage, however they lack the title. They are extremely loyal to their village and are able to freely roam as they please. They are not set missions like regular village ninja and may pretty much do as they please. The Sannin is a rank that takes years of perfection to attain. The youngest age for a Sannin is 25, however that is still very young and the average age when achieving this rank is around 30 years of age. Sannin is not a compulsary rank, and can be skipped when working your way up through the ranking ladder. Sannin are the equivalent of S-Rank Missing Ninja. You need Kage permission to become a Sannin.
Kage: The Leader of their Village. The strongest shinobi of their Village. Dedicated to leading and protection their village with their lives. The Kage are highly respected. The average age for a Kage is around 30. However, the youngest age for a Kage is 26.

Part 2-Specialties & Affinities
Here is a small guide created by our staff team to help you understand the structure of Specialities and Elements in the Naruto Chronicles Community.
Elemental Affinities:
There are five basic types into which the nature of chakra can be transformed, called the Five Elements Nature Transformations (五大性質変化, Godai Seishitsu Henka). These five types are also called elements and are not only the origin of the names of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, but also the foundation of all elemental ninjutsu. The five basic natures are all connected to each other in a circle, each being weaker than one and stronger than another as shown below.
These elements allow for elemental ninjutsu to be performed:
Fire (火, Hi) natured chakra allows for Fire Release (火遁, Katon), which is strong against Wind but weak against Water. Wind (風, Kaze) natured chakra allows for Wind Release (風遁, Fūton), which is strong against Lightning but weak against Fire. Lightning (雷, Kaminari) natured chakra allows for Lightning Release (雷遁, Raiton), which is strong against Earth but weak against Wind. Earth (土, Tsuchi) natured chakra allows for Earth Release (土遁, Doton), which is strong against Water but weak against Lightning. Water (水, Mizu) natured chakra allows for Water Release (水遁, Suiton), which is strong against Fire but weak against Earth.
The chakra paper reactions are as follows:
- Fire: the paper will ignite and turn to ash.
- Wind: the paper will split in two.
- Lightning: the paper will wrinkle.
- Earth: the paper will turn to dirt and crumble away.
- Water: the paper will become wet/damp.
Specialties:
Ninjutsu (忍術; Literally meaning "Ninja Techniques") refers to any technique that utilises chakra and allows the user to perform actions that a normal person otherwise would be incapable of doing. Unlike genjutsu, which causes the opponent to experience illusions, the effects of ninjutsu are actual and physical in most cases. Ninjutsu relies on chakra and, most of the time, hand seals to be effective. The hands are put in sequential positions that moulds and manipulates chakra in the necessary manner to perform a technique. This is not always needed, however, and some techniques become second nature to experienced ninja, after which they can perform them at will. Additionally, many ninjutsu can be classified as an elemental techniques, in those cases where a specific element (wind, water, fire, earth, or lightning) is used. You need this specialty to perform Elemental Ninjutsu, without it you'll only be able to use Non-Elemental Ninjutsu up to one rank below your skill rank.
Genjutsu (幻術; Literally meaning "Illusionary Techniques") are techniques that are employed in the same fashion as ninjutsu, requiring chakra and hand seals. However, the primary difference between the two is that the effects of genjutsu are illusory; instead of attacking the victim's body, like taijutsu or ninjutsu, genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the victim's brain, thus causing a disruption in their senses. This is often used to create false images or to cause pain from trauma (because the body is led to believe it is in pain); however, there are plenty of other uses depending on the situation. You need this specialty to perform any kind of Genjutsu techniques.
Taijutsu (体術; Literally meaning "Body Techniques") is a basic form of techniques that typically does not require chakra, though chakra may be used to enhance its techniques. Taijutsu generally require no hand seals to perform, occasionally making use of certain stances or poses, and are much quicker to use than ninjutsu or genjutsu. Taijutsu is simply put: hand-to-hand combat. You need this specialty to perform any kind of Taijutsu techniques.
Fūinjutsu (封印術; Literally meaning "Sealing Techniques") are a type of jutsu that seal objects, living beings, chakra, along with a wide variety of other things within another object. You need this specialty to perform any kind of Fuinjutsu techniques.
Eijutsu (医療技術; Literally meaning "Medical Techniques") it's the art of healing oneself and allies, these techniques require a high level of intelligence and an excellent chakra control. They're usually used to heal other beings from injuries, but it can also be used offensivley to create deadly attacks You need this specialization to perform any kind of Eijutsu techniques.
Kugutsu (傀儡の術; Literally meaning "Puppet Techniques") The Puppet Technique is a unique ninjutsu fighting style; this technique uses chakra threads to control puppets like marionettes. Any number of chakra threads can be used to control a puppet, but users with more skill can use fewer strings per puppet. You need this specialty to perform any kind of Kugutsu techniques.
Weaponry it's the art of using all kinds of weapons, from whips and spears to regular weapons like swords and katanas. Chakra flow and Kenjutsu also fall under this specialization, chakra and even elemental chakra can be conducted on the weapon to improve its effect. Regular Ninja weaponry like Kunai, shuriken.. do not require this specialization. You need this specialty to have any kind of chakra conducting and developped weapons.
